Path of the Sacred Drum Carrier

This is a four-month Sacred Drum creation journey, connecting to the Ancestors, Ancient Earth Spirits, and the Great Creator.Become a Sacred Drum Carrier – one who is Called to birth and bring the sound current of the Sacred Drum back to the Forests and Lands of this Earth, along with song, dance, laughter and joy! Learn how to vision and bring a Sacred Drum to life, opening to the divine guidance that flows through awakened Sacred Drums and drumming in the Forest.Ancestor’s Mesa: Path of the Sacred Drum Carrier is about how we each find our own profound current of wisdom through the making of a Sacred Drum, working with the Soul of our Sacred Drum, and heeding our own divine Call, each in our own way.Sacred-Drum-Making-Awakening_Ceremony_AncestralThunder.comThis 4-month path with monthly gatherings in Washington State, culminates in an overnight pilgrimage to the Olympic Rain Forest to awaken your Sacred Drum at the feet of Great GrandMother Cedar…an ancient Elder who is Calling those ready to listen and hear Her guidance for planetary healing. During the final weekend we will engage in celebratory observation, sing, drum, and dance at the feet of some of the oldest and largest living Trees on the planet…a very powerful conclusion to the birthing of your Sacred Drum.

Trees are sanctuaries.  Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to  listen to them, can learn the truth.  They do not preach learning and precepts, they preach undeterred by particulars, the ancient law of life.–  Hermann Hesse, Wandering

I walked up to one tree and put my hands against its bark, congratulating it on its courage, trying to draw on its strength. The tree was warm under my hands. I swear I felt it communicating back to me, with its own brand of comfort and compassion…it had things to teach me. I had come to believe that without any sense of false modesty.      – Martha Beck, sociologist, life coach, author, Expecting Adam: A True Story of Birth, Rebirth, and Everyday Magic

AGD25-Rainforest_reunion_blissBringing a Sacred Drum to life happens over time. It is so much more than just making a drum. It is a deep wisdom journey, including opening, great gratitude giving, profound silences and listening, visioning, and reverently honoring life. It’s a true celebration…a seeking, an undertaking, and a birthing of not only the Sacred Being(s) that will take birth in your Drum, but reaching deep into a part of yourself that has been longing to arise from the very heartwood of your own Soul. Birthed in this way, your Sacred Drum becomes your Soul Friend for life…one that can be passed on for generations to come. You will complete this four month journey with a fully awakened Sacred Drum, created and brought to life by your own hands and heart. You will be guided toward hearing the voices of your own Ancestors, Guides, and those of the Ancient Ones…the spirits of this beautiful planet that are calling out, wanting to shower us with their ancient wisdom.

You must abandon your preconceptions and travel into the world itself, as it really is, and find out for yourself what is true, and find, as well, just what you, yourself are meant to do in this lifetime. And to do that, to really see deeply into the world, means using perceptual capacities that our culture habitually denies.  – Stephen Harrod Buhner, author, Sacred Plant Medicine: Explorations in Indigenous Medicine

Any alteration in the human psyche resonates with a change in the psyche of the world. The individual soul can assist in the rescue and preservation of our entire planet.  — Larry Dossey, MD, author, One Mind: How Our Individual Mind Is Part of a Greater Consciousness and Why It Matters

For if we should recapture the response of the heart to what is presented to the senses, go below the surface of sensory inputs to what is held inside them, touch again the “metaphysical background” that expresses them, we would begin to experience, once more, the world as it really is: alive, aware, interactive, communicative, filled with soul, and very, very intelligent—and we, only one tiny part of that vast scenario.  – Stephen Harrod Buhner, author, The Secret Teachings of Plants: The Intelligence of the Heart in the Direct Perception of Nature

To establish a re-connection with Nature is to reach into our Selves, reconnecting with the timeless wisdom we each contain but few indeed are the people who will allow themselves time for this process.   — Michael J. Roads, author, Talking With Nature

In the midst of a gentle rain…I was suddenly sensible of such a sweet and beneficent society in Nature, in the very patterning of the drops, and in every sound and sight around my house, an infinite and unaccountable friendliness all at once like an atmosphere sustaining me….Every little pine needle expanded and swelled with sympathy and befriended me. I was so distinctly made aware of the presence of something kindred to me, even in scenes which we are accustomed to call wild and dreary, and also that the nearest of blood to me and humanest person was not a person or villager, that I thought no place could ever be strange to me again.     – Henry David Thoreau, poet, philosopher, naturalist, surveyor, historian and author, Walden

Research reviews indicate that drumming enhances recovery through inducing relaxation and enhancing theta-wave production and brain-wave synchronization. Drumming produces pleasurable experiences, enhanced awareness of preconscious dynamics, release of emotional trauma, and reintegration of self. Drumming alleviates self-centeredness, isolation, and alienation, creating a sense of connectedness with self and others. Drumming provides a secular approach to accessing a higher power and applying spiritual perspectives.   — Michael Winkelman, PhD, MPH

Despite our culture’s willful ignorance, deeper perceptual experiences and paradigmatic shifts in cognition are spontaneously emerging with more frequency, and much more strongly, into the human species. For using this different kind of perception and thinking is the way out of our predicament, the way to solve the problems that those older kinds of thinking have caused. It is an evolutionary necessity.   – Stephen Harrod Buhner, author, Plant Intelligence and the Imaginal Realm: Beyond the Doors of Perception into the Dreaming of Earth
